This show takes inspiration from the legendary Kill Tony podcast, and with Toronto’s vibrant, multicultural scene, we’ve made it our own. Whether you’re a first-time comic or an open-micer craving valuable feedback, an amateur looking to get booked, or a seasoned professional looking to share new material and tips to the next generation; this is your chance to shine and get noticed by the people who matter.
Comedians are given 90 seconds to perform their pre-written material, followed by live feedback from Backroom Comedy Club’s owners and seasoned pros. This isn’t just another open mic—this is a chance to receive direct, real-time advice on what works, what doesn’t, and what it takes to make it at Backroom. We book comedians for the week based on what we’re looking for, so this is an incredible opportunity to be seen and heard.
The bucket for sign-ups opens at 9:30 PM, and we select names by 10:05 PM sharp—so no one’s time is wasted. With a supportive community of like-minded comics and industry professionals in the room, it’s the perfect environment to grow, learn, and level up your comedy game.
